Dear Little Dylan,
This has been a whirlwind month. Your Grano, Grandma, Poppa and Aunt Kim all visited you this month. It was great fun getting out and about with you and the family. It helped me feel more confident taking you out and not freaking out if you had a meltdown in public.
You've been crying a lot this month. Not sure if it's a tummy issue or you are bored in the house. I discovered yesterday that the vacuum calms you down instantly which is a real treat for me since I'm a freak about having clean floors and I've been putting off vacuuming for fear of waking you during a nap.
You have doubled your birth weight to 12 pounds and have lots of chins to prove it. You're even wearing three to six month clothing now.
We've taken you to Golden Gate Park on a sunny Saturday afternoon recently and you seemed to love being outside.
You're giving us lots of smiles this month, especially on the changing table. Must feel good to be diaperless.
You are getting so strong. Standing on your own legs unsupported save for leaning against my chest. During tummy time you actively push against my hands to creep forward towards a toy.
Grandma and Poppa bought you a nice crib which we're going to put up this weekend. You'll be moving into it soon although it'll still be in our room with us. We can't stand the idea of not having you close to us at night.
You are now sleeping up to five hours at a stretch at night. Sometimes I wake up before you, ready to feed you but you sleep on and on. You are a great sleeper and eater at night. Getting up only to eat and have a diaper change, which you usually smile through. During the day you have a hard time getting to sleep without crying. Maybe you feel you should be out and about doing stuff instead of napping.
Your chubby hands are starting to unfold and you can bat at toys now with pretty good accuracy. Soon you'll be grasping those toys as well. You already hold onto my finger or my shirt when you are eating and it's so cute.
Thank you my little man for coming into our lives. You are such a joy to us and such a good boy, yes even when you cry for hours. I've finally gotten better about not feeling sad when you cry. Now I just do my best to comfort you and know that you are alright, just needing to get something out of your system.
It's almost Thanksgiving, your first, and we'll be with family down in Foster City. It'll be nice to spend the day in a different locale and I think you'll enjoy it. I can't believe that next month is Christmas and you'll be three months old! My how time is flying. I can't wait to see what Santa is going to bring you!
Till next month my boy, lots of love,
Momma
